Procession for fallen firefighter in El Dorado fire this morning

A procession for Charles Edward Morton, a 39-year-old veteran hotshot who died in the on-going El Dorado fire last week, will include a U.S. Forest Service honor guard and the California Highway Patrol and start at the San Bernardino County coroner’s main office Tuesday morning, Sept. 22, at 10:30 a.m.

It will conclude at Ferrara Colonial Mortuary in Orange.

Morton died Thursday while fighting the El Dorado in the San Bernardino Mountains, San Bernardino National Forest officials said. He was a crew boss with the Big Bear Hotshots, one of a 100 or so elite teams in the country that go into remote areas of wildfires and cut breaks just with the tools the crew members carry in.
